Communication
At IncludEd Independent School, we believe that positive, open communication is an essential part of supporting every student. Strong relationships between school, home and the wider professional network help us to understand each young person as an individual and ensure that their needs are recognised and supported.
We aim to communicate with parents, carers and professionals in a way that is clear, respectful, timely and accessible. We use a range of communication methods so that families can stay informed about their child’s progress, achievements, wellbeing and education.
Meetings
Regular meetings provide an opportunity for parents, carers, school staff and, where appropriate, external professionals to work together.
Meetings may be used to:
• Share progress, achievements and positive developments
• Discuss any concerns or changes in a student’s needs
• Review support strategies and individual plans
• Agree priorities and next steps
• Share and celebrate students’ work
• Strengthen partnerships between home, school and other services
We value the knowledge and experience that families bring and encourage parents and carers to share their views openly. Where a meeting would be helpful, we will work with families to find a suitable time and format.
Telephone Communication
Telephone contact is an important way of maintaining regular communication with families.
Staff may contact parents or carers to share updates about:
• Progress and engagement in learning
• Positive achievements and successes
• Behaviour and wellbeing
• Attendance
• Changes or developments that may affect a student’s education
Parents and carers are also welcome to contact the school if they have a question, concern or would like to discuss something relating to their child. We encourage early communication so that concerns can be addressed collaboratively and promptly.
Digital Communication
We use appropriate digital communication platforms to help keep families connected with school life.
Where appropriate, digital platforms may be used to share:
• School news and announcements
• Reminders about events and activities
• Celebrations of student achievements
• Information about learning and enrichment opportunities
• Important messages for parents and carers
Any digital communication is managed in line with our school policies, safeguarding procedures and expectations around privacy and confidentiality.
Letters & Written Information
Important information will also be shared in writing when appropriate. This may include:
• School events and activities
• Educational visits and trips
• Examination information
• Changes to arrangements
• Policies and procedures
• Key dates and reminders
• Other information that families need to be aware of
We aim to ensure that written information is clear and accessible and, where a family requires additional support to understand or access information, we will consider appropriate adjustments.
Working Together
At IncludEd Independent School, communication is a two-way process. We want parents and carers to feel listened to, respected and included in decisions about their child’s education.
We recognise that every student and family is different, so we will use the most appropriate method of communication for the circumstances.
By maintaining positive and consistent communication between students, families, school staff and partner agencies, we can build strong relationships, respond to concerns early, celebrate success and ensure that every young person receives the support they need to thrive.
Our aim is simple: to work together, communicate openly and keep the student at the heart of every conversation.
